Who is God? Does he have a name?
The title God is used so freely and I believe that it is high time that individuals would seek the truth of the matter. Who is God? Well, first of all which god are we speaking of? The God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, the God of the Hebrews, creator of the heavens and the Earth. The bible tells us in Exodus 3:14 " And God spoke unto Moses, I AM That I Am: and he said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel I am hath sent me unto you". "The Hebrew for this is Yahweh ( often misspelled " Jehovah". Yahweh means "He is" or "He will" and is the third -person form of the verb translated I will be" and 'I AM". When God speaks of himself He says, I AM", and when we speak of Him we say "He is"(Zondervan KJV study bible, pg. 81). Therefore the Hebrew name of the God of Abraham, Issac, and Jacob is Yahweh. There are so many gods and it is our duty to know the god we serve. I personally choose to call Him by his name and not a title. I would not appreciate it at all if people would just call me lady or woman all the time and never acknowledge me by name. For what other purpose were we given names?
